What truly recognize tyranny are the political activities and choices of the ruler, while the political rights and opportunities of the individuals are essentially constrained. Difference Between Conflict Theories Assignment

Distinction Between Conflict Theories - Assignment Example Marx and Simmel imagine this as a contention that emerges because of consistent change and disintegration inside the general public. The social appropriation of intensity tilts the equalization permitting some to be higher than the rest and making others subjects. As per this hypothesis, there are general suppositions that people are basically self-arranged and slanted to seek after their own advantages to the detriment of others. This implies there will be conflicting belief systems that should be orchestrated and a trade off showed up at. As noticed, these two hypotheses take a gander at society from various edges. The two of them see the general public as a wellspring of qualities and customs however wander in the zone of investigation: basic scholars see it a wellspring of union while strife scholars take a gander at it as a wellspring of contention. 2-Explain the Idea of Dialectical Change by method for an Example. As per the dialecticians, any current idea or proposition has a contradicting thought or an enemy of theory. This implies each philosophy on the planet has an equivalent contradicting factor that holds it under control for value to be accomplished. This value comes as a trade off which is named as amalgamation. For example, the most ideal approach to characterize this is by taking a gander at society all in all. The political class is consistently on the run for who is ideal and who is fit to lead the individuals whether as a congressperson or as a delegate. The crusading time frame is the most serious of all with each attempting to charm voters to their camps. They search for all routes through which they can wipe out their rivals by delving profound into the past and thinking of subtleties that may spoil their names and present them as unfit for open help. They make mottos that try to propel their supporters to evade the other camp. The trade off here is the way that there are laws that oversee this political showy behavior and that the others get an opportunity to cast their votes and pick the absolute best that they see as their definitive decision.

A Nerds Paradise

A Nerd’s Paradise Ever since I first visited MIT in the summer of 2007, I knew that the Institute was quite literally like no other place on Earth. All I did was listen to an admissions presentation, take a campus tour, visit a lab, and talk to some of the current students. I was on campus for a grand total of five, maybe six hours at most. But even those brief experiences were more enough to convince me that MIT really was different. Given that our current social structure places so much emphasis on adhering to norms and following the status quo, I was amazed to find that MIT was continually and unabashedly pushing boundaries, breaking down needless conventions, and defying expectations. This mindset has, in my opinion, produced some truly incredible results not only in terms of the groundbreaking research and new discoveries continually happening here, but also in the sheer quality of education MIT provides. Out of everything I have experienced at MIT my first classes, turning in my first p-set, the clubs Ive become part of, fraternity rush, several awesome hacks, finding a UROP, more classes, more p-sets, more studying, more researching, more everything the aspect of MIT that I enjoy the most is, quite simply, my fellow students. (Although the research opportunities are a close second.) Put it this way: I can learn organic chemistry in roughly the same format, with only a few minor variations, almost anywhere on earth. But MIT is the only place where I can find four thousand students who have so many different and fascinating ways of viewing the world, who are just as comfortable talking about quantum physics as the latest Red Sox victories, who are so dedicated to using their talents and abilities to actually making a difference in the world. Over the past few months, Ive become even more convinced that the greater part of MITs uniqueness stems directly from the energy, diversity, and passions of the student body. I once heard someone refer to MIT as a nerd reservation, and in my opinion thats absolutely true. To be sure, I havent met anyone who fits the stereotypical image of a dorky guy in glasses with a slide rule that pops into most peoples heads when they hear the word nerd but, deep down, all of us are genuinely excited about science, math, and technology in generalotherwise, we wouldnt be here. In that regard, nerdiness (or geekiness, or love of knowledge, or whatever you want to call it) is one of the great unifying factors at MIT. If youre not yet convinced of that, let me present you with some select pieces of evidence. Exhibit #1: 1024. (Think about it. Now go read this entry.) Exhibit #2: I am, right now, wearing this shirt. I bought it because I have a terrible weakness for geeky t-shirts, and since I have penchant for the color red anyway (maybe gold would have been more appropriate for this shirt, but thats besides the point) I decided there was no downside whatsoever. So far, approximately ten people have gone out of their way to tell me how ridiculously yet awesomely nerdy my shirt is. Exhibit #3: The MIT blogs, as a whole. Counting this one, right now the blogs consist of precisely 2203 entries, with a grand total of over 40,000 comments. Have you read them all? (Its like Pokemon, only several orders of magnitude greater.)

Hitler s Influence On The World War II - 1574 Words

When it comes to the political activity of Hitler, there is a lot that can be said about all of the horrific things he did and stood behind. However, in order to fully understand why he did the things he did, we must first understand his beliefs. For quite a long time, the entire world has been gripped by the cruel horror of Nazism as well as the Holocaust atrocities. Hitler, the German military leader, initiated myriad fascist policies that gave birth to immense atrocities including the mass murder of close to 6 million Jews as well as the death of 11 million people during the World War 2 (Pauley, Bruce F). Since his death, virtually all the sectors of German economy have been tarnished, the fact that further cements the ruthlessness of†¦show more content†¦During this time, his major inspiration was Benito Mussolini of Italy. During the same period, Hitler wrote the Mein Kampf. Foremost, Hitler showed unmatched hatred to the Jews people, communists, as well as other minor groups (Shepley). The hatred he had was so much that he viewed these individuals as the enemy of Germany and saw the need to eliminate them from the country. The Aryan people, he thought, was the race that was destined to rule other people. Consequently, Hitler saw the need and called for strong leadership to take Germany to the place it belonged, a place he saw was unrightfully snatched away after the end of the First World War. For the German dictator, the supposed superiority of one race over another is an underlying force in the society in the entire time of history. As a result of the perceived differences, there was tension between the races, something that continued to be a significant driving in the history of Hitler s rule over Germany. It was unlike the idea of Marx that put forward the idea of economics as the driving force in history. Hitler’s perception of history evolv ing to a higher level was that there was the need for the Aryan race to be dormant over the rest of the world’s races. According to him, there was no other proper race in German other than the Aryan, and his ultimate mission was to promote the interest of the Germans to the exclusion of the rest of the races, with war being the primary tool in that effort. Factors that Contribute to the Perception of...

Courtship was once viewed as a significant phase in a person’s life in which individuals participated in activities such as long walks in the park while under the supervision of adults and the community (Lloyd, 1991). Although men would only act on courting behaviors when they proved to have the means to provide for a future family, the activities did not involve an excessive amount of money spending like it does today. While sexual exploitation has been used by many throughout the years, individuals are becoming more aware of the tactics and cues used by one another. Men and women casually date multiple individuals and deceive each other to increase their chances of sustaining a mate, whether it be for a short-term or long-term period†¦show more content†¦As in the study with men, women were asked to view pictures of other women depicting specific cues that could be associated with exploitability. In correspondence to the men’s study, the participating women f ound cues that depicted women as â€Å"easy,† flirtatious, promiscuous, and intoxicated to significantly correlate with exploitability; while cues such as anxious, intelligent, and shy had a negative correlation. The study concluded that both men and women are aware of the cues used in order to sexually exploit an individual. One can further conclude that women who are aware of such cues use them as a means to attract a mate as well (Goetz et al., 2013). While many individuals are in search for a lifelong partner, others are eager to casually date for a short period of time. Although many studies suggest men are prone to use tactics for short-term mating and women prefer long-term mating (Haselton, Buss, Oubaid, Angleitner, 2005), women also acquire short-term mating techniques (Buss Schmitt, 1993). In the study measuring women’s perception of exploitable tactics by Goetz et al. (2013), researchers looked at women who were more inclined to use exploitability tactics to attract a mate. Although the study found women generally were more likely to use non-exploitative cues, those individuals who were more

Partnership with Saudi Arabia - Free Essay Example

Sample details Pages: 3 Words: 818 Downloads: 6 Date added: 2019/03/27 Category Politics Essay Level High school Tags: Donald Trump Essay Did you like this example? As we all know, US has an especially close partnership with Saudi Arabia and we trust the Saudi Administrations appreciably for any sort of reinforcements. Saudi Arabia has greatly supported the U.S. national security policies and has inclined tremendous military support. Don’t waste time! Our writers will create an original "Partnership with Saudi Arabia" essay for you Create order Saudi Arabia has also provided us a considerable amount of stability in the oil fields and oil shippings. Are we really willing to risk all this by intervening in Jamal Khashoggis case? Currently, the best way for America to address Jamal Khashoggis murder is by not interfering in the murder and letting the Saudis continue on with their investigations. This would secure our oil reserves, help us implant the $450 billion dollars that Saudi Arabia has granted in economical issues and other developments, and more importantly, it would still preserve our contract with Saudi Arabia. US should definitely avert this matter because there is much at risk with the oil embargo. The oil reserves in Saudi Arabia are the 2nd largest in the world, estimated to be 268 billion barrels in total. Out of 268 billion barrels, 7.9 million barrels of crude oil a day is imported to USA (Saudi Arabia is No. 2 Supplier of oil to the United States). If we do happen to intervene, then the oil prices will increase profoundly and Saudi Arabia might as well cut off the exports. However, many people believe that by staying neutral, were overlooking our moral principles and universal values.(The Senate is not going to let Trump shrug off Khashoggis murder) They think as though were supporting Saudi Arabia rather than opposing by staying impartial (The Perils of Indifference). But its not as if USA has not taken any action towards this murder. We have already authorized 17 Saudis known to have been involved in the murder and there are still sufficient amount of investigations taking place i n notice of the case (Donald Trump on Standing with Saudi Arabia). The United States still relies greatly on Saudi Arabia for oil and has to maintain its shipments of oil from Saudi Arabia. So therefore, we cannot get involved in this occurrence. Saudi Arabia had also negotiated and agreed to donate $450 billion dollars to the United States. We have already decided to spend $110 out of the $450 billion on the purchases of military equipment (Statement from President Donald J. Trump on Standing with Saudi Arabia). This amount of money can help us with many of our economical issues such as job developments and military assistance. Though, many people still believe as if US ignoring this matter just for money and wealth. But in reality, we are just strengthening our own country by enforcing such money on beneficial causes. We still have much growth and many advancements to take care of and for that, we need Saudi Arabias support. We still need to keep our affairs with Saudi Arabia alive because if we intervene, it will not only ruin our relationship with Saudi Arabia but it will also be too great of a loss as an ally. Iranians, for example, have killed many Americans and other harmless people throughout middle East and has launched many attacks toward us. Throughout these invasions, Saudi Arabia has constantly provided us assistance and helped us recover (Statement from President Donald J. Trump on Standing with Saudi Arabia). We can have complete certainty on Saudi Arabia when it comes to such matters. Nevertheless, many officials or members still have doubts about Saudi Arabia since Saudi Arabia has committed numerous amount of violations in the recent years. Saudi authorities began arresting prominent womens rights activists, accusing several of them of grave crimes such as treason that appear to be directly related to their activism. (Saudi Arabia: Rights Abuses Under Scrutiny). But then again, we cant and are not basing this decision off of that. The contraventions of Saudi Arabia are all their responsibilities. We cannot just reverse our relationship based on this one incident which is conducted by a very small section of people even if these could be one of the most influential positions of the country. What matters is that if they have failed to regard any of our policies or fundamentals. And so far, they have been very contemporary and loyal towards our administrations. With the oil production, the $450 billion dollar investment, and the military assistance and support provided by Saudi Arabia, there is no need for us to intervene. Even if we do interfere, what are the chances of US discovering the culprit when the many other larger agencies who have taken greater action cant since there is no direct evidence? We shouldnt jump to conclusions since were still unsure of who did it because if we fail in our investigation, losing Saudi Arabia as an ally would be too great of a loss. At this point, the relationship status should be untouched and no significant actions should be taken on mere suspicions and no concrete evidences.

Intercultural Communication In Hotel Rwanda - 726 Words

The definition of Intercultural communication is â€Å"a method of communication that aims to share information across different cultures and social groups.† The challenges that may occur during this type of communication come from misunderstanding individual’s communication from a different culture other than their own. Each individual from their respective culture encodes and encodes messages verbally and non-verbally. Many barriers can be put up when trying to initiate intercultural communication. In this paper, I will discuss the film Hotel Rwanda while examining the different intercultural barriers and diversity issues that are presented within the film. He pleaded but could not keep the UN’s presence there, b ut does not give up hope. The privilege and disadvantage dialectic is established throughout the film, providing the main character with hope that he can protect the refugees, but also hopelessness when he is abandoned by allied forces. The second thing that stood out to me was the dialectic of history past, present, and future. These ideal shapes the plot of the movie, creating tensions and civil war between the two battling cultures. The past between the two cultures creates uneasiness, leading to an unbalance of power and eventually civil war where an estimated 800,000 people were killed. Hotel Rwanda describes the history between the two cultures, and how it came to be that the Tutsi had control of the state rather than the Hutu. The struggles for the Tutsi during the genocide were enormous, and due to the little aid from other allied states, the cultures were clashing on their own without help from other states. I believe that this had an effect on the Colonel, although he did not feel this way. At the moment, he was representing his country, and he was ashamed of these beliefs. The best strategy for this barrier, I believe, is becoming other-oriented. If there was any consideration for the people of Rwanda, or if people took the time to emphasize with what was going on, theShow MoreRelatedRole of Media in Tourism9761 Words   |  40 Pages   The   Role   of   Media   Communications   in   Developing   Tourism   Policy   and   Cross†Cultural   Communication   for   Peace,   Security   for   Sustainable  Tourism  Industry  in  Africa               Author:  Wilson  Okaka  Ã‚   Lecturer  (Communications  and  Environment  Programmes)   Kyambogo  University  Kampala†(Uganda)   Telephones:  [Office:  256†414†3771775]  Ã¢â‚¬ Ã‚  [Mobile:  256†078†2588846]   Email:  nupap2000@yahoo.com                  Paper  Presented  at  the  4th  International  Institute  of  Peace  through   Tourism  (IIPT)  African  Conference  on  Peace  through  Tourism  at

Importance of Meditation-Free-Samples for Students-Myassignment

Question: Discuss and reflect health beliefs - Meditation Improves Health and Better Sleeping? Answer: Meditation is where a person trains the mind or introduces a mode of consciousness as an end or to achieve some benefits or to allow the mind to recognize what it contains without it being identified with that content(Weiten, 2016). It involves turning ones attention and mind inward and concentrating on one thought, idea, feeling or thing. In most cases, meditation has been culturally perceived as a way of obtaining inner peace and moving closer to God. Meditation has a number of health benefits: Slows brain loss related to age: Studies have shown that those who engage in longtime meditation experience less age-related loss of brain tissue in comparison to those who do not meditate. The study which deployed a functional magnetic resonance imaging examined 100 women and mens brains who had been meditating for about 20 years(Emet, 2013). The two groups indicated a reduction in gray matter with age but the longtime meditators had significantly smaller losses in the gray matter of their brains. In as much as meditation cannot eliminate age-related declines in diseases or thinking, the research proves that meditation protects the brain(Rakel, 2012). Helps to relieve pain: Examinations on meditation effects reveal that longtime meditators experience less pain compared to non-meditators even though they showed higher levels of activity in the areas of the brain that are associated with the pain. With meditation, the pleasantness of stimulation of pain is highly reduced. This is not achieved by inhibiting an experience of pain but avoiding the brain from indulging in thinking processes that facilitate pain(Snowball, 2012). As for the case of chronic pain, there is normally a tendency of pain hyper-vigilance that in turn creates a stronger emotional reaction to the noticed pain. Meditation helps to reverse this situation. Improves concentration: Meditation enhances attention and thus improves the concentration of an individual. Increased concentration increases the efficiency of an individual when multitasking(Rakel, 2012). Mindfulness enhances the better working of the human memory. Meditation among students has been linked to improved performance as students who engage in meditation have recorded higher scores in their tests. Meditation is important in building the concentration of an individual at a physical level as it aids in enhancing the communication of attention networks and limiting the level of interruptions that one would experience. Helps in stopping the shifting of the mind: Through meditation, the brain region that is responsible for continuous shifts from one topic to another is controlled. This habit has been linked with poor mental health especially in cases where it is not controlled. Meditation lowers the level of activity in this part of the brain(Weiten, 2016). Wondering of the mind has been related to reduced levels of happiness as most of the thoughts in most cases tend to stress or rumination. Meditation reduces the activity in the brain region that is connected with wondering thoughts referred to as the default mode network. This is the partial reason for the use of mindfulness as an important therapy for depression and anxiety for a very long time now. It could be for this reason as well, that meditation is a tool in the prevention and management of some physical health conditions(Emet, 2013). Improves the quality of sleep: Research indicates that people who adopt meditation as sleep improvement strategy recorded greater improvements in the quality of their sleep as compared to those who deployed more structured plans(Alexander, 2011). Structured programs such as bedtime routines and alteration of poor sleeping habits yield significantly low results. This indicates that mediation is an effective strategy that can top up the list of appealing options that are required in fixing health risks and problems associated with low quality sleep. Helps control addiction: Meditation is a fundamental tool in helping an individual in dealing with the various addictions including alcohol, cigarettes or any other drugs. It works by strengthening the self-control of the individual hence enabling him to have control over his senses and body desires. Meditation also helps in disconnecting an addict from craving sensations of the substances to which he is an addict. Through meditation, a person becomes less stressed of the problem he is undergoing and gives him an opportunity to focus his mind on the best mechanisms of helping himself out of the situation(Rakel, 2012). In conclusion, meditation serves as one of the most powerful tools that if effectively used can help to a great extent in improving the quality of the health of an individual. From improving concentration, improving the quality of sleep, controlling addiction, slowing age-related brain loss to stopping unnecessary mind shift, meditation improves the quality of health. These it achieves by concentrating the sensations and thoughts of the various parts of the body towards a specific attention of the present. References Alexander, S. (2011). First World War Bachelor Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1250 words

First World War Bachelor - Essay Example The war was won by the Allied Powers and the results of the defeat of the Central Powers resulted in their dismantling. Germany had a particular bad shape after the war with the controversial Versailles treaty. It lost is overseas empire and new states such as Czechoslovakia, Estonia, Finland, Latvia, Hungary and Yugoslavia were created in Europe. The war was fought on land, sea and fir the first time in air. This war resulted in great devastation resulting in the deaths of more that nine million soldiers in the various battlefields, much more millions in the civilians who perished. As a result of the war people's life changed dramatically as the optimism which came with the many changes in the early 1900's was completely lost. Those who had fought in the war became what is known as "the Lost Generation" as they never fully recovered from the effects of the war and their experiences in the war was unlike any thing anyone had thus far experienced. The years after the war saw Europe mourning with memorials being erected in thousands of villages and towns Though many think that the outcomes of the Second World War, contributed to the present world situation, it is the events which happened as a result of the First World War, which give the real answer to many of the tension existing in today's political scenario. These events have been expertly analyzed and set forth in the works of David Fromlin and Hew Francis Anthony Strachan . iii. David Fromkin David Fromkin is well-know for his book A Peace to End All Peace (1989). In this book, he brings out the role played by European policy in the Middle East between the years, 1914 ad 1922. This book traces the event which led to the dissolution of the Ottoman Empire. When this empire broke down, tremendous changes took place in the Middle East. Most people think that the border around the Middle eastern states of Iraq, Syria, Jordan were always there, but according to David Fromkin this notion is wrong because these states were created primarily out of the European policy (made by the joint hands of countries Britain, France, Russia, Greece, and in a way America. in 1922). He brings out the key events which were part of this policy in the book. This policy sought to find new expansions for the European powers of the time and to carve up the fallen Ottoman Empire after the First World War. They wanted to establish their influence in the Middle East as they had done with other countries with which they had fought and won over. Events in the Middle east at that time, led Britain to get into the ottoman empire, but they made a series of mistakes, which led them to endure an long-drawn out war in this region. A new government in the meantime had come into Britain and it's decided that once they had got through the war in the Middle East, they would carve it up as they always did with spoils of a wars. At this point not only Britain but also European leader felt that the Jewish community had the power to control events in several countries. They wanted an alliance with the Jews and wanted to use their influence to their advantage. The result of this saw Britain making overtures to Jewish Zionism by issuing the Balfour Declaration in

Population Growth and Its Effect on Global Warming Research Paper

Population Growth and Its Effect on Global Warming - Research Paper Example , this brief essay will attempt to briefly analyze this monolithic problem in terms of the exponential growth in human population that has been evidenced over the past 200 years. Furthermore, a determination will be sought to be made with regards to the question of whether human action or natural causes best explain the climate fluctuations that planet earth has recently been chronicling. Lastly, as a function of the previous points of discussion and analysis, the author will attempt to proscribe a reasonable and performable set of steps and solutions which both the scientific community and the world at large could and should seek to employ as a function of ameliorating the stress on planet earth and the issues at hand. Furthermore, as a means of bringing such an understanding about, the analysis will also rely upon relevant scientific publications on the topic as well as verifiable statistics and charts concerning overall levels of climate change and corresponding increases in CO2 e missions by humans over the past several decades. However, noting the global climate change is an issue is not, in and of itself sufficient. As such, the analysis will also consider the rapidly increasing demand that fossil fuels have been projected to assume over the next several decades and posit a potential alternative to further environmental degredation at the hands of seemingly ever expanding human populations. Firstly, there is the point of view that strongly believes that the swings in climate change are the direct result of the presence of high amounts of human CO2 in the atmosphere that is causing a greenhouse effect on the planet and thereby causing world temperatures to rise. Prima fascia of this argument is the belief that human CO2 emissions are responsible for the changes to the global climate. It follows therefore that those which ascribe to this point of view are the most vehement that drastic and immediate changes to the manner in which human beings interact

Quality management Assignment Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 7

Quality management - Assignment Example Hence, it is important that clear decisions are made. But clear decisions cannot just be made literally. Clear decision making is done with the help of various means. In this case, the design of experiments as learnt in this course is one means through which clear decision making can be done. It avails the evidence, the observations, the conclusions and the factual evidence that is needed in decision making. This paper looks at how the design of experiments is involved in decision making in industrial settings, how it is involved in decision making for the purposes related to quality management and why, how, when it is done and its association with cost benefit analysis. From an industry perspective, it is evident that the competition amongst industries is stiff at all levels of competition. This coupled with the fast changing technological techniques for use in industries adds the pressure on industries to make decisions that are certain, based on evidence and facts. As learnt in this unit, the design of experiments is a vital decision making tool for evidences. As per the research conducted when undertaking the assignments, it was evident that one of the aims of industries is to locate the best possible production level. This was by taking all the factors involved in the production process into account and designing an experiment that would help the industry’s management to make the right decision on which factors to make use of. The DOE enables industries to come up with an appropriate model for production by utilizing the data of the factors obtained. This is part of the decision making process of industries. It was learnt that industries design experiments that include one to several factors that they think will have an effect on a response variable to evaluate if the said factors truly have an effect on the response variable. In industries, the decision making process involved the carrying out of experiments in a

A Modest Proposal Essay Example for Free

A Modest Proposal Essay This is a beautiful land for millions that grants its people plentiful opportunities to start a wonderful life. The United States of America is the most honorable country to live in; we have been credited for our vast amount of freedom to all. America can easily be claimed the greatest nation in the world. We do, however, have an issue, an issue with the homosexuals. The true American people need to do something about this blasphemy. It continues to frustrate me on a daily basis to see them everywhere. Homosexuals all over the place are an abomination. I was truly appalled to find out that they think they could gain equality rights to normal people; it is outrageous. Maybe, as a solution, for the greater good of our community, we take away this problem. Put them away; build isolated communities to house the gay. The government can go about this the same way they did the Japanese and the internment camps. Homosexuals are a threat to society, to the value of marriage and the proper structure of family. If we as a community let this stand, it will ruin the lives of thousands. Children will grow up wrong and heterosexual marriages will never be the same; this affects everyone. America has a history of poor civil rights decisions: slavery, segregation, women’s suffrage, racism, and discrimination. Now is this country’s chance to learn from history and protect the civil rights of heterosexuals! We cannot stand down and let the wrath of the seemingly harmless and loving Homosexuals need for â€Å"equality† reign down on future generations. The only solution, which is an obvious one, is to relocate any gay out of the public’s eye. This is a surefire way to handle such a controversial issue.
